"Lessons with Yuko have been very fun and helpful. I come away from each lesson having learned at least one new thing that wasn't contained in any of the many textbooks I collected as a former self-learner. Yuko is very good about catching my errors quickly and correcting me in a kind and polite manner. The lessons have been a good mix of conversations, written homework and her generously answering my many (somewhat random) questions." --- D.L. 🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸 🍵 Voices from Teacher One of my students began Japanese studies with me at 13 years of age and continued for about 5 years. She was a beginner with a home schooling background who loved Anime, Manga and games. She took weekly lessons with 1-2 hours of homework per week. For the first three months I did not teach her grammar, but instead had her practice sentence patterns. I prefer that students get a feeling of self-learning, as babies do in learning their native language. While she was with me her Japanese skills developed to an advanced level. She also learned Kanji, and 500 Chinese characters, each one having a story of its own. She loved learning and became like a native speaker with no trace of foreign accent. Before leaving for college she took the AP test for Japanese language and culture. She did not need any preparation for the test as a result of my lessons. She achieved a perfect score. We both were happy and proud of her success. |

" Yuko has taught Japanese to me and my son for about 3 years.
She has been a wonderful teacher, very clear in her communication regarding both class material and class logistics and has been always patient, kind, and thorough. It continues to be a delight to work with her!" --- C.J. |
